Southern Union State Community College Achieves Highest Enrollment in Over a Decade

WADLEY, AL — Southern Union State Community College (SUSCC) is proud to announce its enrollment for the Fall 2024 semester has surpassed 5,000 students. This achievement represents an 8% increase in overall enrollment and a 9% increase in credit hours from 2023, positioning SUSCC as the a performer in credit hour production within the Alabama Community College System. “This is a significant achievement for our college and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team,” said Todd Shackett, President of SUSCC. “We are committed to making a difference in the lives of citizens of east Alabama.” Enrollment at Southern Union has steadily increased since the disruptions caused by COVID-19, but surpassing 5,000 students marks a major achievement for the institution. Southern Union State Community College Hosts Preview Day for Prospective Students

Southern Union State Community College (SUSCC) is excited to invite prospective students and their families to Preview Day, an event designed to showcase the diverse opportunities available at SU. Students will have the chance to explore academic programs, tour the campus, and attend information sessions that provide an in-depth look at the student experience. Preview Day will take place on two campuses: Opelika Campus: Monday, October 1st at 9:00 a.m. Wadley Campus: Thursday, October 24th at 9:00 a.m. During Preview Day, participants will be guided through SU’s programs, student services, and campus resources. Information sessions will cover a variety of topics, including admissions, financial aid, scholarships, student life, and academic pathways. CCSD Celebrates Constitution Day

This past Tuesday, September 17th, students and staff in Chambers County Schools celebrated Constitution Day across the school district.  Constitution Day is an American Federal government initiative to observe and recognize the adoption of the U.S. Constitution on the 17th of September.   The date commemorates the delegates from the Constitutional Convention signing the official document that would become our Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, PA.  A 2004 amendment passed by Congress officially established the holiday and the mandate for educational programs in our schools on the history of the American Constitution.  Chambers County Schools hosted multiple activities across the school district to promote Constitution Day.   CCSD Superintendent, Dr. Casey Chambley noted that the system’s principals and teachers across the system were doing a great job of teaching citizenship with this activity.   Below are some pictures of the ...
