Chambers County School District Host Dedication Ceremony for The JROTC Power Program

  The Chambers County School District is excited to share a historic milestone that was observed prior to the Valley High School Rams victory over Dadeville High School on Thursday, October 31st, 2024.  The JROTC Color Guard formed at midfield for a special ceremony to dedicate the Chambers County School District’s JROTC program in memory of a beloved former teacher and coach, Mr. Michael Frederic Power.  Coach Power, a former JROTC cadet during his studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, was later commissioned as a Logistics Officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years.  During his tenure as an educator at Valley High School, Coach Power served as a dedicated math teacher and coach working with JV football, JV basketball and golf teams. CCSD Host Inspirational Say No to Drugs Inspirational Speaker

Matt Kelley of Equip Ministries from Livingston, AL, spoke of the danger drugs pose to teens when he presented to the students at W.F. Burns Middle School, Valley High School, J.P. Powell Middle School and LaFayette High School in three separate assemblies hosted on Wednesday, October 30th.  The activities were coordinated by the Chambers County School District as part of the CCSD’s Red Ribbon Week initiative.  Red Ribbon Week is celebrated across the USA from October 21st – 31st.  The Red Ribbon initiative is the oldest, largest drug prevention program in America, reaching millions of young people every year.   This year’s theme for 2024 is “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free.” The CCSD was excited to support and promote this initiative with our students at all of our schools across the district. CCSD 4th & 5th Grade Students Compete in Amazing Shake Jr.

The Chambers County  School District recently completed competition for the Amazing Shake Jr. for its fourth and fifth grade students.  The district has reshaped the competition for the  Amazing Shake  for the 2024-25 school year.  The Amazing Shake Jr. competition will be the first of three levels carried out this year with additional competitions to be held for both middle school and high school students.  The Amazing Shake Jr. contest was a county wide competition for elementary school girls and boys to participate in.   This year’s  Amazing Shake Jr. included 4th and 5th grade students from Eastside John P. Powell  STEAM  Magnet  School , Fairfax Elementary  School , and  Huguley  Elementary  School . CCSD host Why Not Win Institute's Larry Thornton to LaFayette High School Auditorium

Wednesday, October 23rd, the CCSD will host Mr.  Larry   Thornton  and his team from the  "Why Not Win" Institute!     The program for the LaFayette High School students for grades 9-12 begins at 9 a.m. CST and the program for the Eastside-J.P. Powell STEAM Magnet School students in grades 6-8 begins at 10 a.m. CST.  All of the students in grades 6-12 were gifted a copy of one of Mr. Thornton's books earlier this school year in August as a result of outside sponsorships.

CCSD recognize Nationwide Free College Application Week

CCSD High Schools will support seniors with submitting applications to colleges nationwide as this is free college application week for Alabama.  Seniors can apply to colleges & universities from October 7-11th. 

CCSD host Inspirational Speakers Jim Bradford & H.K. Derryberry

  The Chambers County School District is pleased to have hosted Mr. Jim Bradford & H.K. Derryberry for inspirational presentations of hope and determination hosted across the school district this past Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, 2024.  H.K. & Jim started their visit with a morning program at W.F. Burns Middle School sharing their message to 500 plus 6th-8th grade students from the W.F. Burns gymnasium.  Following their stop at W.F. Burns, the visiting duo traveled to Valley High School to share their message at 10 a.m. in a program that was recorded and shared by Gator Media.  H.K. & Jim then made a visit to Mr. Mark Robinson’s self-contained classroom to make a personal visit to special needs students on the VHS campus.  HK & Jim traveled five-plus hours from their homes in suburban Nashville, TN to make their visit to Chambers County.
